Thank God For YouTube

I have to admit, I'm one of those people who spend hours and hours in YouTube.com just browsing through videos. Sometimes I don't even want to. I just feel compelled to. =D

Usually I'd be browsing through cooking videos or videos that have to do with music (guitar playing, little girls with big voices bla bla bla), with the occasional funny advertisement videos. If I'm really in need of laughs, blooper videos are definitely the way to go. I highly recommend FRIENDS bloopers. They're just as funny, if not funnier, than the show itself.

Anyhow, last night, I sort of felt nostalgic and tried to search for movies (Yes, they even post whole movies in YouTube now! They break it up into a gazillion parts though...) that I used to watch when I was younger. I went though movie databases, checking through movie lists and all that. I spent about half an hour doing this.

And what did I decide on? Anne of Green Gables (1985). And the sequel. *chuckle* I'm telling you, it was a little under 4 hours going on, and I was teary eyed for more than half of that time. Why I was willing to click through all those links to watch it (the clips were all about 10 minutes long, and about 20 parts to each movie) I will never know.

It was interesting to see the difference on how I interpreted the story now and years back. I no longer feel that the romance between Anne and Gilbert as gross. In fact, I think the dynamics of their courtship is funny. I especially like the slate smashing part. Classic.

I also appreciate how hard it is to be studying away from home (Hmmm... this seems to be a recurring theme in my blog...). Being homesick while you're supposed to be concentrating on a bunch of other stuff (read: studies, rent, food, entertainment, assignment.... it goes on and on) is not an easy thing to do. I can also appreciate that books (Fiction please) are sometimes the only escape.

Speaking of which, I find it a little disturbing that I haven't read the book. I wonder if any of my friends have copies of the books. Since the books carry on til Anne is in her old age, I don't know if I have it in me to actually search for all her books. I think there are 8 books in all. I wonder if all that innocence and energy follows her through the years. I guess I'll have to find out.

One thing that hasn't changed though.

I still think Gilbert Blythe is cute. =D

I should be more ashamed, since I haven't seen the movie nor read the book.

Perhaps I should.
